“I’m so thankful!”

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Dr. Spencer Cochran successfully repaired Alisa’s nose following a tragic accident.

FEMALE VOICE: I was in Lake Tahoe visiting my sister and got up in the middle of the night and fell down the stairs, put my head through a stucco wall, which plummeted me into a banister face first. It shattered and did a compound fracture on my nose, which split and then went up into the brain area.

I was taken to the emergency room. I was told I would need surgery. I called my doctors in Dallas. They told me that I needed to come to Dr. Gunter Center that this was the only guy in town that did noses. I was lucky enough to come here and meet Dr. Cochran who then repaired my nose and did a great job and I’m so thankful. I mean it was a tragic accident. It could have been life altering and he put it back together. It took a couple of weeks to heal and my nose is here.

“I’m fortunate to have met Dr. Spencer Cochran”

FEMALE VOICE: I came to the Gunter practice through my doctor in Manhattan, actually two referrals in Manhattan. I was intrigued, I came down, and they were lovely enough to fit me in at the last moment and just absolutely wonderful about it. I met Dr. Cochran after a lengthy consult that had to go on longer and longer ‘cause I had so many questions. He was great.

And I went to surgery, it was, went smoothly. He explained everything. Spent a lot of time consulting on what I would like to look like or there, would like the result to be. At the end we came to a good conclusion and had surgery. The recovery was not painful. It’s a bit sore when you wake up, but didn’t even need full medication for the recovery.

And I’m three weeks out and I’m quite happy with it and I’m very fortunate to have met Dr. Cochran. I’m pleased enough to have referred my sister and a couple of other friends so that are coming in for consultations. So I have the utmost faith in them.

“I’m really happy with the results”

Tania loves the new look & function of her nose.

FEMALE VOICE: Well I had a lot of sinus problems growing up, all my life, you know, of course allergies too, you know, don’t help. But I had a CT scan done and I had a deviated septum. My turbinates, one of them was collapsed and they were enlarged, and then I also had polyps. So due to all of that I always got sinus infections and just felt sick all the time, headaches all the time. And I had done a lot of research and I had heard that Dr. Gunter was just awesome. And he is.

And I came in for a consultation and Dr. Cochran is the specialist who talked to me about my sinuses and chose a date. We did a drawing of my nose. And I was very scared and nervous at first but excited at the same time. Then I came in for my surgery. Everything went great. I felt great afterwards and I really didn’t have a bad experience. You know, I felt fine. Of course the congestion is always, you know, a pain, but you know it wasn’t what I expected. I thought it was going to be painful.

Taking the cast off the nose was an experience in itself because it was just pretty, it was scary you know. When you see yourself it’s a change and so you’ve got to get used, you’ve got to tell yourself that it’s going to look different and listen to everybody because it does change. It takes about a year for you to really see the full results, and about six months out you basically see, you know, where it starts looking more aligned and the swelling’s going down.

But I can breathe a lot better and everybody in the office has been great. And, you know, even when I come in for doctor visits. And that’s what I really, really liked about Dr. Gunter is that their bed side manners are just phenomenal. And here now, 15 months later, and I’m really, really, really excited and very happy with the results.

“Everyone recommended Dr. Gunter!”

FEMALE VOICE: When I was a child I broke my nose when I was about 4 years old. I was running down the sidewalk, tripped, fell on concrete and flat on my nose. So and many years later they said it’d be better to wait until I was fully grown to operate. When I started to consider getting my breathing problem corrected and knowing that I would have to face surgery for a second time after a tough first surgery many years prior to by another doctor, I started checking with doctors in the Metroplex, I started checking with friends in the Metroplex that I knew always chose the top doctors. And hands down from friends to doctors, whether it was general practitioners or a dentist, Dr. Gunter was the person that everyone recommended and they said that he is number one for what he does. In fact, another plastic surgeon in the area said that he is the person to go to for that procedure. He has a gift for what he does and what he does is a miracle, in my opinion.

Benefits of Rhinoplasty

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

DR. JACK P. GUNTER: Well the nose is the most prominent feature of the face and certainly it plays a very important role in the facial aesthetics. So rhinoplasty has actually two benefits, improving facial aesthetics and also improving nasal function. The nose has a very strong psychological effect on ones self-image and can decrease ones self-confidence, especially in the younger patients.

It’s very satisfying for us to see a patient come in to the office with a big smile on their face and very outgoing who, before their rhinoplasty, was very shy, retiring, and you know didn’t have much to say, but has become a much happier person. And this makes us very, it is very satisfying to us.

We also must remember though that the nose is functioning organ and that the air that goes through the nose is healthier for the lungs than if it goes through the mouth. So it’s very important that when we’re improving the aesthetics we also must keep in mind the problem of decreasing breathing and to open the airways so that they can breath better.
